Central Illinois Woodturners (CIW) is a local wood turning club affiliated with the American Association of Woodturners (AAW). Our purpose is to invite, encourage, teach, learn and promote the art of turning wood.
We have a broad range of turners in our club from beginners to members with over 30 years of experience. We have members that welcome the opportunity to mentor.
We have an extensive library containing numerous education books and DVDs that are available to our members at no cost. Twice a year we host seminars featuring a professional wood turner. These seminars are an excellent opportunity to learn through instruction and hands on training.
Our meetings are held on the second Monday of each month starting at 6:30 p.m. We alternate locations every other month between Bloomington and Peoria. The Bloomington meetings are January, March, May, July, September, and November. These meetings are held at Millworks located at 2426 S Main St in Bloomington, IL. The Peoria meetings are February, April, June, August, October, and December. These meetings are held at James Pearce’s shop located at 1101 SW Washington in Peoria, IL. Please bring your own chair.
Membership runs from January to December. Both CIW and AAW memberships are required. AAW membership includes a bi-monthly magazine and liability insurance to members at any AAW sponsored event. CIW membership allows access to the club library and discounts at the local woodworking stores.
